PM Barzani arrives in London to meet with top British officials

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani arrived in London on Monday to meet with the country’s top officials, including PM Boris Johnson, according to a statement by Barzani’s office. 

Barzani will talk about bolstering bilateral relations as well as latest developments in Iraq and the region with Johnson and other British officials, read the statement.  

“The Kurdistan Region and the UK are bound together by longstanding friendship,” Barzani said in a tweet

“We cooperate against terrorism; support refugees and the displaced, and favor peace and progress for all of Iraq. I’m in London this week to explore ways to strengthen trade and investment ties,” he added. 

PM Barzani was in Turkey on Friday, meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Both discussed "bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey, and expanding cooperation to promote security and stability," according to Barzani who added that they also emphasized developing relations in all sectors, particularly in trade and investment."
